Mary Robinson, communications manager for MNsure, Minnesota state’s health insurance marketplace, discusses with host Steve Francisco how MNsure has helped over 1 million Minnesotans purchase affordable health insurance plans since 2013.
Additionally, MNsure has also helped eligible Minnesotans find health care through Medicaid and MN Care for low-income people who cannot afford to buy a private health insurance plan.
While Minnesota has cut the number of uninsured by half — from 8 percent to 4 percent — since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), sharply rising health insurance premiums for the coming year are threatening to undo this progress and put the health and well-being of thousands of people at risk. Mary explains why it is important for Congress to extend the soon-to-expire ACA health care subsidies.
