Author & Journalist Dane Smith returns to discuss with host Steve Francisco his latest article series in MinnPost and a recent op-ed piece in the Minnesota Star Tribune (May 16) declaring that Minnesota is “an exceptional state.”
Dane takes a close look at a broad range of recent data to rebut the Trump MAGA narrative that Minnesota is a failing state. Specifically, Dane cites data about education, access to health care, environmental quality, and more to make his case that the attacks on our state are politically motivated. He notes that U.S. News & World Report recently ranked Minnesota number one for its “quality of life.” But he also observes that inequality remains for many people of color.
