Nonprofit and nonpartisan AARP, counts some 625,000 members in Minnesota, advocates for policy issues that positively impact the well-being of people.

Guest Thomas Elness talks with host Bill Raker highlighting some of the legislative victories in the 2025 Minnesota State Legislature. Thomas speaks to the policy priorities AARP will be advocating for in the 2026 legislative session. Included on the list are: 1) removing discrimination from Medigap laws, 2) stopping fraud through crypto kiosks, 3) expanding housing options for older Minnesotans, 4) ensuring safety and fairness for long-term care residents, and 5) defending paid family medical leave.

Thomas explains how AARP staff and volunteers work with legislators and advocate for these and other policies.
