Leah Gardner, ISD 196 Board Member
(9-19-2025)   [Steve Francisco]

Independent School District 196 Board Member Leah Gardner, joins host Steve Francisco for her first interview on “Access to Democracy.”

Leah was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board in 2024 and was subsequently elected by voters in November last year. ISD 196 covers Eagan, Apple Valley and Rosemount. With 28,000 students, 2,100 teachers, and 4,000 staff, ISD 196 is Minnesota’s third largest school district.

With the recent tragic school shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School, Leah discusses how ISD 196 is working proactively to create a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. She also explains why she hopes voters will approve an extension of the Technical Capital Projects Levy that is on the ballot this fall.

Finally, Leah explains why she supports science-based student vaccination mandates, including certain exemptions available under the law.
