Joe Leko, has been a member of the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office for 25 years, and has risen to the number two position, serving in every rank along the way. A native and resident of Dakota County, he holds four degrees, one of which is as a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy. Currently in charge of the office’s 200 employees and $26 million budget, he will be seeking the Chief’s position following the recent announcement on our show by Sheriff Tim Leslie of his retirement. Sheriff Leslie endorsed Leko for that post.

Jeff Sheridan, Candidate for Dakota County Attorney

Jeff Sheridan, nationally known and one of Minnesota’s top defense attorneys, made his second visit to our show, and discussed, among other things, why he decided to run for Dakota County Attorney this year after 35 years in law. The primary will be held in August. Jeff discussed with Alan his philosophy about what a prosecutor’s office is about, the need for education and intervention to ratchet down the spiraling crime statistics, and some of the responsibilities of the legislature as well as prosecutors in dealing with crime. He also talked about his familiarity with civil matters handled by the County Attorney.

Dave St. Peter, President of the Minnesota Twins, is one of the longest serving club presidents in Major League Baseball. Dave has also generously given of his time to our show for 15 years, at the start of each season, to discuss the roster and plans for the season and team. Here, with guest host Peter Miller, the wide-ranging discussion included the many trades which the Twins conducted in the off-season, bringing both veterans, All-Stars and rookies to the major league team, some discussion of rules changes in major league baseball, and a host of other topics.
